WHY SOIL IS AMAZING

Whilst working as a senior animator and designer at Flock London, I made a film all about the magic of soil - for the online video producers, BBC Ideas (in collaboration with The Royal Society).

I went through the process of doing the storyboards > colour & design > final art & animation. From the start to the end I was trying to treat it like you could look at each shot and use a keyframe as an interesting illustration on the topic.
We shift through a few different styles throughout the film, but it all feels unified as a piece through the use of fun transitions. I wanted to use an earthy but colourful palette, and clean shapes with added texture. I tried to pair a very 2d, folky geometric animation style alongside scenes with more depth/interesting angles.
